FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 10-16, 2010
WHAT I’M READING: Ever since I finished Lullabies for Little Criminals, I have been wary to start anything new. Please friends, suggest something wonderful…
WHAT ELSIE’S READING: Dinosaur books of all kinds. This morning she said ‘Brachiosauraus’ right before yelling another gem: ‘NO TALKING!’ I know, Simon and I were trying to talk. We are so stupid.
WHAT I’M WATCHING: Oooo, Burn Notice. Good show.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: John Mayer sometimes. I don’t really know why. You might barf at his lyrics or get really emotional. Really depends on your state of mind. I’ve done both.
WHAT I’M WEARING: This shirt, which appears to be on a great sale right now. It fits all loose and easy, and feels delicious. There. (Did I sell it? I’m working on my sales techniques.)

WHAT I’M EATING: This really great bread I found at a bakery close to our place. And I do my darndest to buy it after 6 PM so I can get it half price. Yesterday, I scored three loaves. Half fucking price. Be in awe at my money saving talents…which emerge at the strangest of times for the strangest of things.
WHAT I’M ENJOYING: Walking in the Junction. There’s a cheese shop, everybody. The other day I spent $20 on cheese. Perplexing creature she is.
WHAT I’M SNIFFING: Sometimes when I come home, I get whiffs of the rooming house our apartment used to be. It smells like heavy times.

The author of the Burn Notice books, on which the series is based, is my colleague (he teaches at the UCR Palm Desert campus). He’s hilarious. You might want to read one of his books for fun.
PS — have you ever watched John Mayer perform? Say what you will about him or his music, people, but the man is seeeeeexxxxyyyy when performing.
I listen to John Mayer A LOT and I don’t care what he’s like as an individual (I’ve heard that he’s an ass) because his music rocks my socks. A book you may consider is Little Bee (Tamara and I are trying to read it – maybe if you get going on it we could form a one book book club of sorts…or just hang out and eat your expensive cheese and cheap bread…)
xo
Wish I was around to get in on the one book book club with you gals! My book club is reading Three Day Road, which I haven’t started yet but supposedly it’s great. The last really enthralling novel I read was Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.
Lots of love to all.
Books, I have lots of books and some I could suggest. But it might help if you’re a geek as most of them are sci-fi/fantasy type books.
Guy Gavriel Kay novels are all good. He is Canadian and lives here in Toronto. Look up Tigana.
you’re looking for books? oh i have tons to pass on…if i had known at thanksgiving, you would have had a shelf of new stuff.
oh and STEVE L — i love sci-fi, so let’s figure out how we can share titles. i need something new and alternate universy…
I am just starting to read “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” which I hear is incredible. Don’t know… I haven’t read it yet. Our book club (because we are teachers) decided to read “Hunger Games” which is about futuristic distopian society that controls their populace by hosting annual “Hunger Games” where 2 tributes from each district battle to the death. So far, a massive hit! It is a youth novel… which one might shy away from; however… it has a lot of interesting themes and connections to be made.
I really liked “Three Day Road” by the way. It was a great book. We also read it for book club.
If you are looking for good music, my top two picks right now are “Wolfgang Armadeus – Phoenix” and “Broken Bells.”
LOL Natalie!
i havent done this in a while, but i miss my sisters and you keep asking me what is going on so:
what i’m reading: women, food and god. apparently its going to help me figure out why i eat when i’m not hungry. i could write that book, but it would be pretty short: “Because it tastes freaking delicous!” anyway. onward and upward.
what i’m watching: medal of honour. “oh is that a new tv show?” you might wonder…NO. “or a war movie?” NONO. its not a war movie. “hmmm”, you might muse, “what is this that you are watching?” oh it’s a video game. a war video game. with graphics so realistic it’s like a movie. and please note i am WATCHING the video game. a lot. not playing it.
what i’m listening to: the new david gray cd. (do we say cd still? because it doesn’t actually come on a compact disc, now that we’ve evolved to digital music. do we say “album” again, because its sorta retro? compilation? collection? anyway, david gray has some new music out and its good. his voice makes me teary and reminds me of quiet cool drizzly days at the cottage.)
what i’m wearing: loose shirts. because i still havent found a personal trainer i like here and therefore i have still lost ZERO pounds.
what i’m eating: thomas haas chocolate. totally in sync with my fitness plan. my coworker bought me some as a “cheer up, it sucks that you put your back out so bad that you can’t even sit at your desk chair and therefore have had to work standing up all day”. anyway the chocolate is divine, handmade and local. its really freaking good.
what i’m enjoying: my new roommate! YAY LOVE!
what i’m sniffing: as little as possible. my scent allergy has morphed into a severity only tempered by walking in public with a scarf over my nose. oh well, it hides the second chin i’m working on!
One Trackback/Pingback
[...] I’M WEARING: A green dress that’s not unlike the shirt I featured last Fantabulous. I’m still liking the loose + the soft. Maybe too much. The barista at my local coffee shop [...]
