For the week of March 21-27:

WHAT I’M READING: My current obsession: cookbooks. Healthy delicious recipes that involve lentils, kale and more often than not, coconut milk. I need my own cooking show I think. Simon the scientist could talk about temperature or the equipment, and I could demonstrate the cooking in a white gown, ’cause that’s just how practical I am.

WHAT SIMON’S READING: The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris. I did so good getting Simon that book for Valentine’s Day. I got lavender lilies; he got a romantic book.

WHAT I’M WATCHING: Up In The Air. Didn’t like it. Turned into an argument between my sister and me. I finally had to admit that I was influenced by my mother yelling out, “This is the most boring movie I’ve ever seen.”

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: The sound of our car radio having a panic attack manifested in an incessant and lusty hum. Sort of takes the opportunity for peace out of driving.

WHAT I’M WEARING: I am resuscitating clothes from 10 years ago because I am on a strict no spending budget. Except if I see a really cute purple dress with ruffled sleeves and a little buttony bodice.

WHAT I’M EATING:
The best pancakes. Why? Because they are fluffy yet dense, but not at all heavy. Yes a pancake can be all of those things if you make them like this:

1/2 cup Amaranth flour
1/2 cup Arrowroot flour
1/3 cup Tapioca flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup apple juice or milk
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon

WHAT I’M ENJOYING: The sun—if we’re talking about the gorgeousness of last week. All of us Torontonians were enjoying the sun! Some of us under the age of 2 were even picking up sticks and moving them from here to there, licking tree bark…you know, simple outdoorsy stuff. This week gloom has returned: we are sadder. Or more sad, depending on how you prioritize grammar.
sunny days

WHAT I’M SNIFFING: Elsie’s head; fresh hummus; Elsie’s head covered in fresh hummus.
