FOR THE WEEK OF November 8-14, 2009

WHAT I’M READING: Possession. Of course. I will always be reading Possession. To the end of the age. Possession. I am also throwing in excerpts from Flannery O’Connor’s letters, A Habit Of Being, as well as reading The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis. My reading cocktail needs a balanced flavour. Ask anybody.

WHAT ELSIE’S READING: Not the Bus book. Her reading cocktail has been disturbed! Thanks to those damn library book renewal policies. Apparently there is a limit to the number of times you can renew the Bus book. Apparently EVERYBODY gets to share in the magnificence of the Bus book. Whatever.

WHAT I’M WATCHING: The Daily Show. I’m harkening back to old times when Simon and I used to meet on the couch—Simon with his mug of ice cream and celery sticks, and me with my spelt toast—to cuddle and take in cheeky political commentary. So romantic.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: The beginnings of a compliment. He said to me after the workshop, “I like your vibe. It’s…I don’t know…family.” How family? Why family? My vibe is family, people. I’m so confused by what you mean, man. I thought you were going to try and pick me up, and I was going to have to flash my ring and let you down easy, and then you go and call my vibe ‘family.’

WHAT I’M WEARING: A new shirt. I’ll call it flouncy. My MAC dictionary tells me flouncy is not a word. But never mind. It sure evokes something interesting doesn’t it? And most definitely not ‘family.’ Right? Right?

WHAT I’M EATING: A salad with sharp cheddar cheese and walnuts. A butternut squash egg scramble. Seven oysters while Simon gorges on poutine. One of us is extremely jealous.

WHAT I’M ENJOYING: Watching Elsie discover things. I spend my days marveling. Truly. In between extreme fatigue and feelings of ‘I’m not sure I wanted to be a stay-at-home mother,’ I marvel.

WHAT I’M SNIFFING: An Aveda blue oil balancing concentrate. It boasts the elimination of all my tension. My first thought (before I remembered I was engaged in a 91 Day Positivity Challenge): Bullshit! My subsequent action: a full body layer.

Absolutely these are my FAVOURITE posts!

what i’m reading: never eat alone and other secrets to success, one relationship at a time. sounds a bit like a dr. phil book, i know, but its actually a business book on the art of networking. (how to build a lifelong community of colleagues, contacts, friends, and mentors)

what i’m watching: although two of my favourite shows are “CSI: a large american metropolis” and “criminal minds”; i have been a bit disturbed by both lately. are they getting more gruesome, or am i just getting soft in my old age?

what i’m listening to: well yesterday was the roar of the gulfstream 450s jet engines. a pleasant sounds i must admit. once you fly private, you never want to do anything else.

what i’m wearing: i feel like i have two outfits: a business suit and workout clothes. i do nothing else. oh well, at least i’m getting my workouts in.

what i’m eating: i’ve committed to a four week no sugar no alcohol no wheat no anything fun solidarity diet with my friend sue.

what i’m enjoying: coffee from my aeropress. i surprisingly fantastic invention.

what i’m sniffing: clean sheets and warm fall air. both scents very high on my list of things i enjoy sniffing.
