Your laugh has evolved into something more distinguishable as a laugh and less like a choking cough. I find it quite delightful. The first time I heard it emerge was after kissing your belly. A classic and rewarding move.
You seem to be extra cute and kissable these days. At inopportune moments. Like just when Daddy and I are about to leave for this thing called a date. But we’re quick to realize kissing your belly is infinitely more satisfying than watching ultimate fighting over yam fries. (Though incidentally, that combination is more intriguing than anticipated.)
You spit up ‘way more in this your fifth month. What gives? Should I do some research? Go back to my shelf of baby books? Nah! I think I’ll just trust your smiles. In fact, your smiles only get bigger once you have relieved your digestive tract of all those chunks. This can only be good and exactly what you need.
Your grandpa is really growing on you. This is progress, because the first time you saw him you burst into tears. Now you grab his beard and he calls you “Baba.” Did you know he used to call me Baba? See all the things we share.
I pray for you when I’m rocking you to sleep. That you will experience lots of joy. That you will share that joy with your mama. That you won’t wake up one morning and hate your mama. You know, simple things.
Love love, Mama
