For the week of January 11-17:

WHAT I’M READING: Nada, except for my script. But I can tell you about the stack of books sitting beside my bed waiting for friendship: mudhouse sabbath: An invitation to a Life of Spiritual Discipline by lauren f. winner, Crafty TV Writing by Alex Epstein and Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art by Stephen Nachmanovitch.

WHAT SIMON’S READING:
I have no idea. Seriously. We haven’t talked in two weeks. That’s how busy we are. Remember when we lived in California and sat around drinking beet juice and talking about our favorite reads? Those were the days.

Okay, we just had a moment and I am now in the loop. He is reading: The Wisdom of Crowds by James Surowiecki.

WHAT I’M WATCHING: 30 Rock. Two episodes. Back to back. I laughed. I cried. I feel like I can face the world tomorrow.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: The microphonesafety1stthingamahoosey that we put by Elsie’s bed so that I might hear her when she wakes. Except for the time I didn’t hear her. And I found her wailing those famous big tears in the way that she wails them. I felt SOOO guilty. Bad, bad, very bad Mama.

WHAT I’M WEARING: Lots and lots of layers. More specifically: purple long johns, purple Lululemon pants, striped knee socks, bright salmon tank, stretchy white sweater, turquoise silk scarf. I’m a beacon of colour…because…um…I wouldn’t want Simon to trip over the piano bench in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom. My presence will light the way.

WHAT I’M EATING:
Black bean chorizo soup and brown rice toast thanks to my show partner, Marie-Claire. We’re bringing each other lunch once a week, and she started the bar really high. My only riposte: fresh game.

WHAT I’M ENJOYING: Taking baths with Elsie. A high point of both of our days. Her thighs are to die for!

WHAT I’M SNIFFING: Nostril hairs are frozen. Smelling is at a stand still.
