My heart is pounding but my mind is very slow. And my thoughts are about three seconds long.
If you saw my computer screen, you would understand…and probably be a little overwhelmed. Simon’s definitely overwhelmed. He won’t even help me do computer stuff until I’ve closed fifteen windows. I’m overwhelmed too, and I’m the mastermind behind the chaos. You see, I currently have nine text windows open, all of which contain something very important. You know, projects in the works.
My trouble. Bringing these so-called projects to completion.
Here’s why:
I start to make dinner, but realize I should drink some water first…so when Simon asks me how much water I’ve drunk, I don’t have to lie. I go to get a glass, but become distracted mid-reach by a thought. Scurry to the computer to write down said thought…which requires a new text window. But then, of course, I spot a pressing new email…which turns out to be not so pressing…at which point I am suddenly reminded that I need to pay the rent. But I should finish rolling out that pizza dough…back to the kitchen. But I should write that monologue…right. Back to the compu—once I kill that bug and sweep the kitchen floor and compose a marching song for the ants…and maybe a ditty for the birds. Yeah, I’m officially loco. Or dehydrated. What happened to my water?
All of which transpires in the moments between Elsie’s sleeps.
Do you live this way?
I need calm. I need order. I need to do one task at a time.
And by the way, since my life IS a series of non-sequiturs, the receptionist at the chiropractic clinic told me I am burning 700 calories everytime I breast feed. Score. That means I’m burning calories at the rate of Michael Phelps.
Makes me sooooo thirsty. How much water do you drink, Michael?

EXACTLY how i live my life. except no baby. so maybe not EXACTLY… but like. similar. or a couple of similarities.
probably equally as little sleep though.
remind me to tell you of a “day in the life of heather at work”…
Hija, Did you know that Phelps also consumes about 10,000 calories a day–so, you are ahead in the game. Meditation–15 minutes a day–will help to lessen the stress and help to create focus. Try it. tu padre
wow, 700. So gosh, after 22 1/2 months at who knows how many times, that’s a lot. I feel like I should be in the negative somehow. How do they figure these things out?
If Michael Phelps swims with his mouth open, he may not need to drink at all. But he is definitely consuming too much chlorine. Bad for baby. And his liver.
Needs Immunocal.
Don’t forget to ask for help if you need it.
He’s also got exceedingly long arms making it easier to reach all the things he needs to put in order in his life – I’m with daddy. Try meditation…just taught a yoga class at school and I feel better
xo
lol…simple, but well meant…
